Vienna-born Kurt Larisch ( b. 1913) was first exposed
to art in his grandfather's sculpture studio and in the photography
and painting atelier of his father. In 1938 he moved to England and
then to India where he had five one-man shows. Larish and his family
lived in the United States from 1947 until 1970 when he went to México
looking for motivation and freedom. In his work with bright colors he
expresses a critical view of conformity and dehumanization through large
geometric elements that include masses of tiny human figures. Larish,
who has had more than 40 international shows, lives and works in Sarasota,
Florida.
